The Beginning
Alkaabi began in 2019 as a simple travel journal. What started as personal notes from journeys through the Middle East, Central Asia, and beyond evolved into something larger—a platform dedicated to sharing authentic experiences and cultural insights.
The name “Alkaabi” derives from Arabic roots meaning “the cube”—a reference to the Kaaba in Mecca, a place where all directions converge. Similarly, we see ourselves as a meeting point for diverse perspectives and journeys.
Our Philosophy
We believe travel should be transformative, not transactional. Too often, tourism reduces magnificent places to checkboxes—photos taken, souvenirs purchased, onto the next destination. We advocate for a different approach.
Slow travel. Deep engagement. Genuine curiosity. These principles guide everything we write. We'd rather spend a week in one village than rush through a dozen cities. We'd rather learn a few words of the local language than rely on translation apps.
Most importantly, we believe in travel as a force for good. Done thoughtfully, travel supports local economies, preserves traditions, builds bridges between cultures, and expands our understanding of what it means to be human.
